Dan's Picture

Dan began shooting film in elementary school, when he set up a darkroom in the laundry room of his basement. His earliest forays in photography included building pinhole cameras and showing motion using extended shutter speeds. He continues to pursue creative ways to produce visual matter to illustrate his subjects today. Sometimes, as in his stunning time-lapse movies of the Greenland Ice Sheet, a thousand pictures equals just one word: cool!

Just as radio survived and even flourished since the advent television, the web has electrified the photograph. Slide shows and photo galleries are new genres of photography that are invigorating the still picture with sound and motion. Dan uses such tools and techniques to create new-media products for his own websites and those of others.
